Catholic Hope in Dark Times
The Immaculata is the largest Catholic Church built by the international Society of St. Pius X that symbolizes the ever growing hope of traditional Catholicism throughout the world today. Seating over 1,550 people, The Immaculata serves the historic rural town of St. Marys, Kansas and its 4,000+ active faithful with daily offering of the traditional sacraments and Latin Mass exclusively.
Under the explicit protection of Mary, the Immaculate Mother of God, The Immaculata serves as a testimony of the ever-increasing expansion of the apostolic work of the Society of St. Pius X in over 35 countries. This national shrine rises up as a beacon of hope in the heartland of America and expresses an active faith that motivates the community to live in accordance with the spirit of self-sacrifice by living a fully consecrated daily life in the service of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and her Divine Son.
Located 90-minutes west of Kansas City, St. Marys resides within the rural country-side of the midwestern United States. Its history includes the Oregon Trail, Missionary establishments since the 1840's, and notable figures including Gutzon Borglum, sculptor of Mount Rushmore.
With only a handful of exceptions, all 4,000+ faithful in St. Marys have come from first-generation families that moved in from out of state. Like New York or Pittsburgh during the period of American immigration, St. Marys is a melting-pot of today's immigrants who hold to the long traditions of the Catholic Church and who seek a better environment to support their families.
